Expo One+ One+ : "Elsewhere", avec Lucile Bertrand et Élise Leboutte 9 February - 2 April 2023

With this fourth exhibition of contemporary art in the One+ One+ cycle, a new engaging conversation between the works of two artists is on the horizon: Lucile Bertrand and Élise Leboutte.

Lucile Bertrand is a French artist (established in Brussels) who patiently builds, through drawings, sculptures, installations and videos, a subtle, elegant work, full of finesse. A floating world, made of suspended times and fleeting appearances, from which emerges, without seeming to touch it, the singular clarity of a line as clear as the flight of a bird. And also the acuity of a subject where ethics and politics are combined with aesthetics.
Élise Leboutte, born in Dinant, lives and works in Brussels. His paintings are discovered as the place of an intense meditative experience through color and light. A light that always seems to emanate from the work itself, as through a stained glass window. The painting is abstract, but the experience could not be more concrete.

A delicate musicality emanates from the works of Lucile Bertrand as well as those of Élise Leboutte. An atmosphere which, in both, combines the “je ne sais quoi” and the “almost nothing” dear to Vladimir Jankélévitch with the obvious transparency of an aria by Mozart. – Yves Depelsenaire, curator of the exhibition.

The One+ One+ cycle is based on a double desire: through the works of two visual artists, discover the dialogue established between their approaches and their respective sensibilities while offering you the opportunity to enter into a conversation with the artistic material. A cycle thus punctuated by a multitude of moments that place you in an active posture: creative workshops to be experienced with the family (“B.ABA workshops”), mediation, guided tours for a very large public, or even friendly with the artists during the Parole Donnée conferences.

Expo accessible: From February 9 to April 2, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. / Closed on Monday and Tuesday
