Every summer, the City’s Culture Department invites an artist to exhibit their sculptures in urban spaces. Sometimes abstract, sometimes figurative, these monumental works challenge conventions and spark curiosity.
From 1 July to 31 August 2026, it is the turn of Dirk De Keyzer, a sculptor from Ghent, to enchant the heart of Namur. A unique opportunity to explore a singular, otherworldly universe and let Dirk De Keyzer’s imagination brighten up your summer!
About the artist
Trained at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Eeklo, Dirk De Keyzer has been sculpting mainly in bronze since 1985, bringing to life ordinary characters captured in everyday moments, always tinged with humour and light-heartedness.
His works, exhibited from Rotterdam to Shanghai via New York, have captivated the whole world.
Where can you find the sculptures?
In Namur, his reclining, mischievous figures will be displayed in the Place de l’Ange, the Place Maurice Servais, the Place d’Armes and at La Confluence, drawing passers-by into a dreamlike escapade, blending gentleness and poetry.
At the same time, six small sculptures will find a home in the Chapel of the Les Bateliers museum complex, creating a dialogue between the urban space and the intimacy of a place steeped in history.
