Human creations and unbridled ingenious recklessness always enter into dialogue or battle with the purity and indomitable power of nature.
This is the starting point for the sculptures Luc De Man creates in a range of materials including wood, marble and steel. Primal forces, nature and organic forms are reduced to a sphere, while human activity finds itself in the ultimate quest for the perfect cube. The ‘Cubes’ series is based on the observation of nature and man and the search for balance between the two.
Man creates, but nature leaves its mark. The path taken by the creative process is undeniably present in the final result as a reformation of history into a reflection on the future.
