Brognon Rollin – The Land and the Unfolded Map 15 April - 11 June 2023

The Delta welcomes the new project of the artist duo Brognon Rollin. The installation The Land and the Unfolded Map will unfold on the panoramic top floor of the Delta and will be composed of two new videos never before shown to the public, produced by the Franco / Belgian-Luxembourgish tandem in California in the fall of 2022.

The Land and the Unfolded Map auscultates the carnal relationship of Native Americans with their territory, their land. The skin reveals itself as a landscape, the jewel turns into a medium of strategic communication, tracing unforgettable borders, projecting possible escape routes on a nomadic, vital and irrefutable map, which guarantees each tribe its right to stand at the center of the world. world.

The motif of the palm of the hand – and the lines that criss-cross it -, which appears centrally in one of the videos, will also establish a visual connection with the light installation integrated in 2020 into the gable of the Delta and produced by the same Brognon Rollin duo. Première ligne is composed of neon tubes which transpose into light the intersection of the “lines of destiny” and “lines of heart”, nestled in the palm of a hand belonging to an anonymous Namur resident who continued to exercise his function during the first confinement imposed following the Covid-19 health crisis, and to which this work pays tribute.
