Mirage 7 - 8 June 2024

Cie Dyptik

Colorful clothes, carefully fitted, heads held high, steps hit the ground with force and elegance, with the momentum of traditional dances. Rusty metal sheets cover the roofs of houses, there are fences, barbed wire and hanging flags: this is the image of the Balata refugee camp in the West Bank. Unreal, absurd but magical, the image inspires this creation, an intense and powerful choreographic piece for eight dancers.

Mirage immerses spectators in these timeless gestures which cement a community and which emanate from traditional musical cultures. The dance is energetic, rhythmic and visceral. Raging solos, foot duets, group energy, hip-hop, traditional Dabkeh dance… the movements become projectiles that denounce torture and injustice. Suspended images inspired by a desire so violent that it transcends reality… Mirage!

In this 360-degree show, the public shares the space, circular and sounded by eight speakers, with the dancers and is invited to join them on a multitude of stages. The immersion is total. Music, voices and bodies arrive from all sides. It’s a day of celebration that is experienced in an organic and breathtaking way.

The Dyptik Company was founded in 2012 by the choreographers Souhail Marchiche and Mehdi Meghari, a duo of curious, greedy, greedy, rebellious, energetic authors who assert themselves in a strong and authentic hip-hop dance, engaged in its relationship to the other, to others and to bodies.
