Harmony concert 15 June 2023

Sheffield University Wind Orchestra et Brass Band

Two orchestras of young musicians, students at the University of Sheffield, England, will visit Belgium
in June "on tour". A great English tradition for all who participate in music in an orchestra, choir or
band, the purpose of a tour is a healthy and joyful journey.
The students at the University of Sheffield represent two different musical groups; wind band, with
brass, wind and percussion instruments and traditional brass band. The musicians study only music
and there are doctors, engineers, teachers and scholars in the bands.
Established 23 years ago, the Sheffield University Wind Orchestra or SUWO is proud to represent the
university with regular concerts in the city of Sheffield. The band plays the traditional wind music of
Nigel Hess and the works of Gustav Holst plus classical music rewritten for the band.
Sheffield University Brass Band is a non-auditioned brass band with 40 musicians, their repertoire
includes Salvation Army music, traditional music and a version of Bohemian Rhapsody!
