Joseph and the Daltons Collective
Drawing exhibition
Over two weekends, the Halle al’Chair will host works by the youngest artist on the Chambres avec Vues trail, Joseph, aged 9, as well as drawings by his friends and family and inmates at Namur prison.
In 2021, Joseph, then aged 5, began creating large collective drawings with his mother and a friend, then with visitors to the family home. Deaf and with speech difficulties, drawing became a means of communication for him. Between 2021 and 2025, he created around thirty of these ‘large drawings’ with many different people. Arriving in Namur in 2022 to join the bilingual Sign Language/French classes at Sainte-Marie School, Joseph continued this practice on a less regular basis. However, his mother adapted the principle of these collective drawings during workshops held at Namur prison with inmates.
