The NAM-IP Computer Museum is the only computer museum in French-speaking Europe. It houses collections ranging from Hollerith’s tabulating machine (dating from the late 19th century) to the touchscreen tablet. It offers visitors the chance to explore a rich overview of the evolution of computing and digital technology, from its earliest origins – including accounting machines and typewriters – through to punch-card data processing, the first computers installed in Belgium in the 1960s, and the personal computers of the 1980s and 1990s.
The museum also features an interactive area where visitors can try out various devices, consoles and computers, bringing the history of computing to life in a fun and engaging way: old tools and calculating machines, programming-related devices, retro computing and retro gaming, and more. This area is regularly updated to offer visitors new experiences.
